In a close collaboration with the group of Dr. JM Aran at IDIBELL, IVECAT members Mar Naranjo-Gomez and Francesc E. Borràs have participated in the publication of a new paper in Journal of Immunology about the role of the complement regulatory proteins as a potential inducers of anti-inflammatory state on DCs.

The data demonstrate a novel anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory function of the complement regulator C4BP, suggesting a relevant role of the acute-phase C4BP(β(-)) isoform in a number of pathophysiological conditions and potential applications in autoimmunity and transplantation.

This study is still ongoing thanks to a project granted by La Marato de Tv3 2011 to JM Aran and in which the IVECAT group will conduct studies on human peripheral blood DCs.
