The IVECAT group (Innovation in Vesicles and Cells for Application in Therapy) started in february 2002, when Dr. Francesc E. Borràs joined the Immunology Lab at the “Germans Trias i Pujol” University Hospital, also known as Can Ruti, in Badalona, a seaside city close to Barcelona.
Our group is interested in the different aspects of extracellular vesicles such as exosomes and in different cells types such as Dendritic Cells and Mesenchymal Stem Cells, from basic research to clinical application.
Our main focus are transplantation and renal related diseases and we develop our research at the facilities of the Institut d’Investigació en Ciències de la Salut Germans Trias i Pujol.
We are part of The REMAR group (from Catalan, REcerca en Malalties d’Afectació Renal, or Kidney Related Pathologies Research Group), founded in close collaboration with the nephrology department of the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital.
Ongoing collaborations include Dr Katrin Beyer from the Pathological Anatomy department and Dr Antoni Bayes-Genis’ group iCOR of the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital.
